What is Deadlands?

Deadlands® is the original Weird West role-playing game, described by creator Shane Lacy Hensley as a “Spaghetti Western, with meat!” Demons haunt the American West, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, now known as the Reckoners, spread death, war, famine and plague in their attempt to turn the world into Hell on Earth.

Why Savage Worlds?

The creed of Savage Worlds is “Fast, Furious, Fun!” Whether you want crunchy combat or narrative-driven drama it has tools to make it happen and then get out of the way. The system has its own flair, but is flexible enough to cover settings like Deadlands®, Holler, East Texas University, Legend of Ghost Mountain, and even other game worlds like Pathfinder® and Rifts®.

What is a Plot Point® Campaign?

Plot Points are how most of our Savage Settings are constructed. The idea is to communicate a big backstory but still give GMs the freedom to construct and run their own stories in the foreground. The other goal is to allow the GM to open the book and run an adventure almost instantly.

The real goal behind all this is to help Game Masters who don’t have tons of time to prepare their own game.

Think of a Plot Point setting as a quick pick-up instruction manual for actually running a game session (almost) on the fly. The location descriptions are intended to quickly hone in on how the GM describes the area to his players, the plots—via Savage Tales—have enough detail to run a night’s session, and the bad guys or challenges are defined and statted—either as unique villains or by reference to the bestiary.

Is the art shown final?

Everything in this campaign is based on the art assets for the project as they currently stand. Additional art, updates, and requirements from the printer may cause the final product to not be exactly as shown.

Who are Pinnacle Entertainment Group?

Pinnacle began in 1994 with Fields of Honor (a historical miniatures game) and The Last Crusade (a collectible World War 2 card game designed by John R. Hopler).

Certainly, what we’re best known for is Deadlands®, which has now been going strong since 1996.

Deadlands has appeared as a roleplaying game, a miniatures game, a collectible card game, a collectible disk game, and a comic book. The roleplaying game can be found in its original “classic” edition, in the d20 system, and it’s been translated into Steve Jackson Games’ popular GURPs system.

Spinoff settings include Deadlands the Weird West, Deadlands Noir, Deadlands Hell on Earth, Deadlands Lost Colony, and now Deadlands Dark Ages.

Our core rules for all Pinnacle’s settings is Savage Worlds, first published in 2003. Check out the great variety of settings to play in, including Rifts® for Savage Worlds, Pathfinder® for Savage Worlds, Holler: An Appalachian Apocalypse, East Texas University, Weird Wars, and many, many more!

With over 30 Kickstarter campaigns under our belt, we have a proven track record of delivering high-quality books and boxed sets. Just ask our fans!

Do PDFs come with physical products?

We always give a comp PDF with each physical purchase if a digital equivalent exists. Items like the books and archetypes have PDF versions. Items like the pawns and terrain do not. Your reward level automatically includes PDFs for any appropriate physical items in it, and should you Add-On any physical items, you may request the PDF for it.

How does backing work for retailers?

We encourage retailers to sign up for our Savage Retailer list, and we’ll reach out with details on how to order our products.

Savage Retailers get pre-distribution delivery, free domestic shipping (discounted shipping for international retailers), complimentary PDFs of physical items for their customers through PEGinc.com, and pay 50% MSRP. They will be able to order all physical items from this Kickstarter for a limited time.

We recommend retailers encourage their customers to pledge at a digital reward level during the Kickstarter to get those PDFs delivered via both PEGinc.com and DriveThruRPG.com.

When will I get my pledge?

PDFs for digital items should go out for feedback a few weeks after the close of the campaign. The finalized versions of the digital files get updated automatically, and should be available by November 2025. The physical items should begin shipping by July 2026. Please note that this is an estimate, and unexpected production delays are a possibility.

What does it mean to back a project (pledge)?

When you back a project, you’re pre-ordering the product. That means you’ll get it once it’s produced. Besides getting the product itself, you’re also joining a community. Follow along the production process, participate in important surveys, and give the creator valuable feedback.

Why Kickstarter?

We’re a small company. Most retail chains and friendly local game stores don’t order our products—thank you, those who do! Most of our sales are directly to the customers. Platforms like Kickstarter let us reach out directly to you, and get more games made.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.

Terms and Conditions

Pinnacle would like to honor all pledges, but after the campaign fulfills, we will no longer hold stock in reserve for uncompleted pledges. If reward items are unavailable, we will provide a store credit instead of the original pledge item.
